On December 7, Ms Sarah Mann, the British Consul General in Guangzhou, visited Yingya St. Peter’s School , a subsidiary of Hainan Shengfeng Group, and had a friendly exchange with the first batch of students and teachers. During the visit, she also learned about the school's educational environment and achievements.
Cai Haoran, Chairman of Hainan Shengfeng Group, Chen Gang, Principal of Yingya St. Peter’s School, and Catherine Cooke, Principal of Yingya St. Peter’s School, warmly received the Consul General and her entourage, expressing their warm welcome for their visit. Leaders from Haikou Municipal Education Bureau and Haikou Municipal Foreign Affairs Office accompanied the visit.
During the visit to the campus and the exchange process, Ms Sarah Mann was very interested in St. Peter's School York, which is the fourth oldest school in the world. In the process of exchanging ideas with the school, everyone understood the millennium history of St. Perer’s School York and learned about the story of St. Peter's School York's founding in China. The school's efforts to promote friendly relations between China and England were fully recognized.
Whether it was a classroom that highlighted the profound foundation of traditional Chinese culture or a metal craft classroom that explored artistic innovation, facing a new eco-campus with top-notch hardware facilities in China, Ms Sarah Mann praised the school's implementation of a whole-person education system. She exclaimed sincerely, "Yingya St. Peter’s School has inherited the high-quality education standards and long history of St. Peter's School York, and has continued to bring forward students' new international education system in the context of Hainan Free Trade Port!"
During the visit, students of Yingya St. Peter’s School prepared wonderful performances for the Consul General and her entourage, which made Ms Sarah Mann deeply feel the school's emphasis on students' comprehensive development. At the newly built auditorium of the school, the Consul General gave a wonderful speech in which she said: "Although exams are important, education is not just about exams. What is more important is that when you are in school, you can do something wonderful besides studying, so you have a chance to explore and find out what you may love and be good at. Maybe it's music, drama, art, sports, etc., even including leadership or organizational skills. I think this school really interprets this educational philosophy!"
"During the visit, Ms Sarah Mann discussed many educational issues with us such as student safety, personalized learning, comprehensive development, and college admissions." Principal Chen Gang shared his exchange with the Consul General. In the teaching area, students' colorful works with unique artistic charm left a deep impression on guests. Students also prepared their own original artistic works as gifts for Ms Sarah Mann.
